Sumitomo Riko supplies innovative components for the new Toyota bZ4X carline
The Toyota bZ4X is the pioneer of the new generation of all-electric vehicles. It is the result of years of experience in electrified powertrains and brings a vision of Beyond Zero – a better future for all – to the road.
Toyota Motor Corporation has utilized Sumitomo Rico’s anti-vibration rubber, hoses, and sound controlling & insulation products for its battery electric vehicle (BEV) bZ4X. The bZ4X, which is based on the BEV platform jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru Corporation, will be launched around the world. Other vehicle models will follow on this platform, for which Sumitomo Riko plans to develop and produce similar components.
The central drive element is the eAxle, an electric drive module that integrates the motor, the transaxle, and the inverter. Sumitomo Riko supplies a suspension system designed for specific vibrations for this module. The entire system is also shielded by a specific cover that keeps sound away from passengers and the environment.
For efficient operation and thus a high range of the vehicle, a uniform temperature of the electric drive system is advantageous. Sumitomo Rico’s Electric System Cooling Hoses keep the temperature at an appropriate level and increase the efficiency of the entire system.
As “a corporation that contributes to safety, comfort, and the environment for people, society, and the earth”, Sumitomo Riko group has successfully put products specially developed for BEV on the market with the view of further promoting BEVs. Through further technical development, we will contribute to creating a cleaner and more sustainable society, and a comfortable mobility life.
